Reading
Pod time is great time for reading. Students can read on their own, with a buddy, in a group, or all together. They can read their own books, library books, or even books for class. The important thing is...just read!
It's worth noting, of course, that book groups (or reading circles, or whatever you choose to call it when people read together) in pod helps encourage and build a culture of literacy here at City Neighbors High School. Reading and talking about books is another way students can share and learn from experiences together. Reading the same material and having discussions about new ideas will prove invaluable as a way to build on all of our values in pod. There are a number of books (pod sets) for students to choose from, and if your students want something we don't have, we can find a way to get it.
